Balding Mane by AmySue Langman

My 19yr old morab gelding, Christopher Robyn is allergic to flies and when they bite his neck, he scratches his crest on trees, fences and even our steers! he doesn't have worms or parasites (the vet checked him all out) Now we'd like to get the one thin (almost bald) spot to grow back. How or what can we do to get it to grow?

I have the same problem.I have tried everything and the only thing that marginally works is MTG by Shapley. The stuff is gross it's oily sulphur smelling but it's a good product. You must be very diligent about daily use.I also have tried a lice medication for chickens.used in conjunction with the MTG you may find some relief.I had to roach my mare's mane it got so bad,but with the above treatment,it is growing back normal. You may have to resort to Dexamethasone,I would reccoment the injectable as opposed to the feed type,it is more cost effective. Absorbine make a fly spray that "sticks" to the haircoat in a red bottle.Douse your horse with that.Let me know if you have success.TE

You could try Listerene rubbed into the root of the hair. It is supposed to stimulate growth.
